Selenium helps protect cells from oxidative stress and contributes to the normal function of the immune system.
The human body cannot produce selenium on its own. Selenium should therefore be taken regularly and in sufficient quantity through food. However, dietary intake is not always optimal if the diet is unbalanced.
In food, the trace element is bound to proteins, which is why protein-rich foods such as meat, fish and chicken eggs are among the rich sources of selenium. But lentils, asparagus and nuts also contain selenium. Grain products made from white flour are usually quite low in selenium because the nutrient-rich outer layers of the grain are often removed.
Since soils in Europe tend to be low in selenium (DGE, 2021), plant foods often contribute only a small proportion of selenium intake. Since selenium is a sensitive trace element, attention should be paid to a balanced diet.
What does the 2-phase DEPOT system offer?
The tablets consist of 2 different layers thanks to a specially developed production process. The two-phase system from Doppelherz works on the principle of “rapid release of nutrients” and “long-term release of nutrients”.
Principle: In the second phase as a nutrient store, selenium is gradually released over many hours and made available to the body in smaller “portions” throughout the day. In contrast, phase 1 selenium is released more quickly and can therefore be more quickly available to the body
